June 2026: Pycon, Constrained Problems, and remote_exec

Pycon US 2026 is over, so let’s have a recap! Including:

Python 3.14 remote_exec

Have you seen a Western in which the hero gallops up alongside a speeding train and leaps aboard? Wouldn’t you like to do that in Python?

Python 3.14 introduces remote_exec, enabling you to attach to, run code in, and debug a Python program running in another process without any preparation - perfect to figure out what’s going on in a long-running program without restarting it.

Constrained Problem Solvers follow-up

In March 2026, Rodrigo Girão Serrão showed us conceptually how many complex questions can be expressed as a set of truth statements - which are all that a program called a Constrained Problem Solver needs to find a solution. We didn’t get quite as far as applying the concept to working code, so we’ll follow through and do it now.

Discuss Discord consolidation

We should also discuss folding the DDL Discord channel into the existing Gem City Tech discord. Don’t let me forget!

Location: Innovation Hub

We meet in the Innovation Hub, a gorgeous new facility that’s part of the renovated Dayton Arcade complex.
Enter through the doors that face the Wright Stop Plaza bus hub.

Street parking is free in the evening. I usually park on Ludlow Street.

if for any reason coming downtown doesn’t work for you (for instance, you’ve been exposed to COVID, or you’ve converted yourself to purely digital format and now exist as a set of cloud-hosted algorithms), we’ll be online as well!

Join us at 7 PM EDT on the PyFri Discord channel, discord.gg/9SgTh3T, and click on the General voice chat link. You may need to install the Discord desktop app rather than just using the web interface.
